There is an interesting article in here about the UNCRC Act and how it may affect homeschooling in America and how it is currently affecting homeschooling in Britain.

Mary Mother of God Mission Society

Father Dan came to our church last week and talked about the Mary Mother of God Mission Society in Russia.  http://www.vladmission.org/

I was deeply moved about their mission work.

One of the things I liked the most about it was the Grandparent Orphan Mentoring Program.  In Russia many children in orphanages suffer from detatchment syndrome.

For $60 a month they are able to send in Grandparents to play with, love and socialize with the children.  They often bring their own grandchildren and take them all with them on errands and trips outside the orphanage.

What a wonderful thing to do!

Here's a link to their site

Spring

The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are in need of funding right now for their fast-growing community.

I am amazed that in a time when there are fewer and fewer religious in the world, The Dominican Sisters of Mary have grown so much.

They began with 4 sisters, 12 years ago and now have over 80 (and counting!) And most of their sisters are in their twenties!

That is amazing!

If anyone is able and willing, this is a wonderful group to donate to.

Snape and Lupin on the History Channel?

Sevie Mug

I'm watching Monster Quest on the History Channel right now and they're talking about a possible werewolf in Wisconsin.

They had a witness on who was telling a story about how he had seen this werewolf/creature.  He was re-enacting driving his car, when he saw something weird, and stopped.

I kept looking at this man thinking he looked familiar.  He has a silly greyish pageboy haircut, but the more I looked at him the more I realized he looked just like Snape.

LOL!

And he was describing his experience as seeing the werewolf by a tree.  Lupin?  Whomping willow?

He took a polygraph earlier.  I'm hoping they show him again and the results too.

Thanksgiving

I know I'm not the only person going through tough financial times right now, so I wanted to share this link with others who may need it too.

A freind of mine is on disability and has been using Angel Food Ministries for quite a while for her groceries.

They will send you boxes of food for a very low price.  If you click on the monthly recipe link, it will show you what they have available and at what prices.

I hope that was helpful!

The First Noel... Noel?

  • Dec. 4th, 2008 at 7:38 PM
Christmas 1

I was in the car this afternoon with The Kids, when "The First Noel" came on the radio.  I was singing along when this happened.

Middle Child: Mommy,  What does Noel mean?

Me: Noel?  It means Christmas.  It's French for Christmas.

Middle Child: OH!  I wondered what that meant.

Me: What did you think it meant?

Middle Child:  I thought it was Jesus's cousin or something.  I kept wondering who this Noel person was.

Me:  Wahhhahhahahahahahahahahahah!!!

LOL!

"Feliz Navidad" came on right after that and I told her that was a song about his Spanish cousin.  LOL!  She told me she knew what "Feliz Naidad" meant and we had a good laugh about that..
